Blofeld: devo aggiornare il sistema operativo ?

Hai provato l'applicazione per il Mac Blofeld-FirmwareV1.13.app del firmware V1.13?

Nel changelog si parla proprio di Improved file transfer capabilities.

Sì, nessuna differenza.

OK. Scrivi al supporto Waldord. Sono velocissimi e gentilissimi. A me mandarono un programmetto apposito per installare il v1.04 senza altri impicci, ma avevo già risolto come ti ho descritto.

Speriamo che non siano andati anche loro tutti al Namm...

Sì, è un file di testo incluso nel pacchetto del O.S., peccato che mi sa che è proprio il Terminal ciò di cui si deve avere Fear.....

Ma non c'è un Factory Reset in questo strumento???

Aspetta, ma non è un'applicazione da lanciare via Terminale? Forse tu hai paura... E di che dovresti avere paura?

C'è, ma se lo fai, dopo puoi solo caricare un firmware nuovo, e se quindi non ci riesci sei fu##ed.

Beh, io avvio l'applicazione e si apre Terminale, non lo apro io....

La frase "Don't fear the Terminal" si riferisce al fatto che il tipico utente Mac usa solo l'interfaccia grafica e di solito non conosce la command line.

La mia componente di sistemista Unix ti direbbe di aprire prima il Terminal, e lanciare lo script a mano da dentro la finestra, così se c'è un errore lo vedi, ma non ho il mac per provare, qui con me.

Ah ecco, ora è chiaro....



Non saprei neanche da che parte cominciare.....quindi per adesso non andiamo oltre.

Problema risolto

Oggi mi ha risposto tale Holger Steinbrink, del supporto Waldorf a cui avevo scritto. Istintivamente nella mia testa gli ho affibbiato la faccia di Horst Tappert ......mi ha spiegato passo passo cosa dovevo fare, ed è filato tutto più che liscio
Di seguito vi incollo la mail di risposta che mi ha inviato:

[[c]Hi, I've just received my new Blofeld Desktop synthesizer. I'm trying to u-pdate the firmware to the latest version (version 1.04 is onboard right now) with my Mac (Snow Leopard), but am encountering problems.
I've tried to use the app included in the 1.13 zip file, connecting the module via USB cable, it starts the Terminal application, which sends midi data (the MIDI light on the module lights up), but the module display doesn't change in any way. At the end the Terminal says "Process Complete", but the module doesn't reboot.
I've also tried to play the included midi file with my sequencer (Logic Pro 9), and also with Sysex Librarian, but it's just the same, no change on the display even if the MIDI Led lights up.
Have also tried all said with the 1.12 version, but the results are just identical.
Can you help me in any way?]

Here is the information how to get the Blofeld u-pdate running on a Mac computer:

Apple changed something in their USB MIDI driver in Mac OS X 10.5.7, which results in problems when connecting a USB High Speed device (480 MBit/s) such as the Blofeld.

Although it might work to send notes or controller data to it, it doesn't work to u-pdate the Blofeld Firmware/Samples/License SL anymore with the regular u-pdate procedure.

To work around this problem, we found out that it is sufficient to connect the Blofeld to an older USB 1.1 hub that offers a maximum data rate of 11 MBit/s. The Blofeld is then also detected as a 11 MBit/s device and the firmware/sample u-pdate works without problems.

Please follow these steps, to perform a Firmware u-pdate on Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later:

1. Connect the Blofeld to a USB 1.1 hub (fullspeed, 11 MBit/s).
2. Connect the USB 1.1 hub to a USB port on your Mac.
3. Start the Blofeld Firmware U-pdater or Spectre data transfer or License SL upgrade as usual.

Quindi un grande GRAZIE all'assistenza Waldorf anche se per trovare un hub Usb 1.1 ho dovuto smontare un'intera ala della casa

Io invece ieri avevo scritto alla stessa persona facendogli notare che l'attuale procedura di aggiornamento tramite sysex file è un pelino arcaica, ho chiesto se non fosse il caso di ispirarsi a clavia e creare un eseguibile, lui mi ha detto che sono all'opera per semplificare le cose e di stare tuned

che dire, saranno pure piccoli però davvero molto disponibili

Roba da pazzi. E siamo nel 2010! Comunque tutto è bene quello che finisce bene.
